Air Monitoring for Workplace Exposure
We help employers monitor air quality and manage exposure to hazardous substances before they result in non-compliance, fines, or worker illness. Our air monitoring includes full-shift personal and area sampling for:
- Silica, metals, dusts and other particulates: in construction, manufacturing, offices and other settings.
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): from paints, solvents, adhesives
- Combustion By-products: including carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide
- Chemical-specific Contaminants: such as isocyanates, welding fume, and acid gases
Our reports include comparison against Ontario Regulation 833, ACGIH TLVs, and industry best practices — empowering you to make cost-effective and informed decisions about controls, PPE and worker health.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments
Poor indoor air quality can lead to discomfort, health complaints, and lost productivity.
Our assessments help employers create safer, more comfortable indoor environments by identifying and addressing ventilation and contaminant issues early.
We conduct thorough IAQ investigations to identify sources of discomfort or exposure—such as odours, elevated carbon monoxide (CO), or indoor pollutants. Our process aligns with standards like ASHRAE Standard 62.1/62.2 and guidance from Health Canada and WHO.
We frequently support property managers, school boards, and HR teams looking to resolve concerns before they escalate.

We measure workplace noise levels to identify exposure risks and support compliance requirements.
Prolonged noise exposure can lead to permanent hearing damage — and it often goes unnoticed until it’s too late.
We perform comprehensive full- or partial-shift noise dosimetry and area sound level mapping to evaluate compliance with:
- Ontario Regulation 381/15: Noise
- CSA Z107.56: Noise Exposure Measurement
- CSA Z94.2: Hearing Protection Selection.
Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials Surveys
Ontario Regulation 490 identifies substances posing significant health risks. Many workplaces are required to have a detailed Assessment and Control program to mitigate exposure risks.
We provide occupational hygiene assessments to ensure the protection of your workforce from designated substances.
Heat Stress Assessments and Safety Talks
Extreme temperatures can pose serious health risks. For high-risk job sites, hot indoor environments, or summer projects, heat stress assessments can demonstrate due diligence and help keep your employees safe.
We also offer short-format health and safety talks covering:
- Heat Stress at Work
- Cold Stress at Work
These sessions are ideal for toolbox talks, health & safety meetings, or seasonal compliance refreshers. Each is delivered by an experienced health and safety professional and can be scheduled as part of your ongoing OHS program.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to inform our JHSC before testing?
Yes. In Ontario, employers must notify their Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) when conducting occupational hygiene testing. The worker representative may also be present during testing. We help ensure this process is followed correctly.
Are there legal limits for chemical exposure in Ontario?
Yes. Ontario sets out maximum airborne concentrations for over 700 hazardous chemicals. Employers may face enforcement if workers are exposed to work environments exceeding these limits.
Are your consultants ROH or CIH certified?
Yes. All occupational hygiene assessments are overseen by Registered Occupational Hygienists (ROH) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH).
What's the difference between ROH and CIH?
ROH is a Canadian certification; CIH is the U.S. equivalent. Both are highly respected, requiring formal education, field experience, and demonstrated expertise in occupational hygiene.
Do we have to sample for asbestos before renovations?
Yes. Many building materials installed before about 1985 contained asbestos. Disturbing asbestos-containing materials during construction or repair activities expose workers and occupants. Sampling must be done by a qualified professional. Regulation 278 sets out these requirements.
What is WHMIS and what does it mean for my business?
WHMIS (O. Reg. 860) is the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It mandates classification, labeling, and training for any hazardous products used in your workplace. Having a documented WHMIS program can help ensure important health and safety information is communicated effectively to all workplace parties.
What is O. Reg. 490 and how does it affect my workplace?
Ontario Regulation 490 requires employers to assess and control worker exposure to 11 designated substances. If any are present, a written assessment and control program is required.
How long will it take to perform testing?
This depends on the substance, the number of employees sampled, and site logistics. Most sampling is completed in one shift, and results are typically available within 1–5 business days.
How quickly can we expect results from an assessment?
We tailor timelines to client needs. In urgent cases, same-day feedback may be available. For most standard sampling, expect final reports within 1 week.
